How Praying became Fardh for Muslims?
One night a very strange and wonderful thin happened to the prophet Muhammad pbh. This is know as al Isra and AL miraj the Night Journey and the Acvensio. The Angel Jibril woke him up and took him on a strante white winged animal called Burag (Lightning) From Makkah to the Al Aqsa Mosue in Jerusalem. From there he took the Prophet through the seven Heaven and finally into the divine Light of Allah's Presence. One of the commandemnts that Allah gave to the Prophet was to Pray regularly. Allah wantd men to pray fifty times a day but the Prophet begged Him to make it easing for everyone. At last Allah resolved that there should be five prayers a day. This shos the great imprtance of the five daily prayers.
Therefore salat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is duty of every Muslim male and female to perform the five daily prayers by himself or hereself of along with others in a congregation. All the five prayers have to be observed at fixed time. The names of the prayers and the itmes are as follow;
Farjr or Early morning prayer two rakahs between dawn and sunrrise and two rukah sunnah(The prophet Muhammad pbh prayed 2 more rakah)
Zuhr or Noon prayer; four rakahs, between noon and mid after noon. four more rakah sunnah and two more rakah sunnah (meaning the prophet Muahmmad pbh did this)
Asr or Afternoon prayer four rakahs between mid afternoon and sunset.
Maghrib or Sunset prayer: three rakash between sunset and early evenings and two rakahs sunnah.
Isha or Evening prayer: four rakahs btween disappearance of twilight and coming of the dawn two rakahs sunnah and three rakahs witr wajib. which means at the last rakahs after reciting one surah after surah fatiha you say allahu akbar raise your hands and recite Duaa Qunoot.
